Lapis lazuli (/ˈlæpɪs ˈlæzjuːli//-ˈlæzjuːl/), or lapis for short, is a deep blue metamorphic rock used as a semi-precious stone that has been prized since antiquity for its intense color. The deep blue color is a symbol of royalty, power, spirit and vision. Obtained from the oldest mines in the world, and mined from 4000 BC to today, lapis has many uses. It is used in pendants and jewelry, even inlayed in the sarcophagus of king Tutankhamun.

Natural ultramarine pigment made from ground lapis lazuli. The most expensive blue pigment during the Renaissance, often reserved for depicting the robes of Angels. It was also ground and used for dyes, eyeshadow, and used in medicines.
It is said that lapis will stimulate wisdom and good judgement. This stone when worn or heals is believed to enhance circulation, improve cardiac rhythm, and lower blood pressure.
