Frequently Asked Questions | Giulian Lyn Handmade Jewelry
Thanks for stopping by! I'm Giulian Lyn, and I make every single piece of jewelry in my studio here in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Below are the questions I hear most often, whether it's at a craft show or through my online shop. If you don't see your answer here, feel free to reach out directly.
Is your jewelry really handmade by one person?
Yes, every piece is made entirely by me, start to finish, in my Finger Lakes studio. I do all the wire wrapping, soldering, shaping, and finishing myself. There's no assembly line and no outsourced labor. I'm proud to share work-in-progress photos and studio shots so you can see exactly how each piece comes together.
What materials do you use?
I work with genuine, quality materials including sterling silver (.925 purity), real gemstones, Swarovski crystals, copper, and brass. I'm always transparent about what goes into each piece, and you'll find the specific metals and stones listed in every product description. I never use mystery metals or synthetic stones passed off as real.
Will my sterling silver jewelry tarnish, and how do I care for it?
Sterling silver can tarnish over time, especially when exposed to humidity, perspiration, chlorine, or cosmetics. Here's a tip that surprises a lot of people: wearing your silver pieces regularly actually helps keep them shiny, because the natural oils from your skin gently polish the surface. When you're not wearing them, store pieces in a dry place, ideally in a small zip-close bag to limit air exposure. A soft polishing cloth works wonders if tarnish does appear.
Why do some pieces look slightly different from the photos?
Because every piece is handcrafted and I use natural materials, subtle variations in color, size, and pattern are completely normal. That's actually part of what makes handmade jewelry special: no two pieces are identical. I do my best to photograph each item accurately, but your piece will have its own unique character.
What types of jewelry do you offer?
I make a wide variety of pieces, including earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, toe rings, and even nose rings. I'm always experimenting with new designs, so my collection changes regularly. If you've seen something at a craft show and want to find it online, just send me a message and I'll help you track it down.
Do you offer custom orders?
I do! If you have a specific gemstone, color combination, or design in mind, reach out and we can talk through the details. Custom pieces take a bit longer since I want to get everything just right, and I'll give you a realistic timeline before you commit. Keep in mind that custom orders may have a different return policy than ready-made pieces.
What is your return and exchange policy?
I want you to love what you receive. If something isn't right, please contact me within a reasonable timeframe and we'll work it out together. Because each piece is handmade, I do ask that items be returned in their original, unworn condition. Custom orders are handled on a case-by-case basis, so please ask about returns before placing a custom request.
Do you offer bulk discounts?
Absolutely! If you're buying for a bridal party, a group gift, or just stocking up for yourself, I offer 15% off orders of 10 or more items and 20% off orders of 20 or more items. This is a great option for event favors, mother-daughter gifts, or anyone who wants to share handmade jewelry with a group. Just reach out if you have questions about how the discount applies.
Where can I find you at craft shows and local events?
I'm a regular at craft fairs and markets throughout the Finger Lakes region of New York. I post my upcoming event schedule on my website and social media, so that's the best place to check for dates and locations. Meeting customers in person is one of my favorite parts of this work, and it's a great chance to see and try on pieces before you buy.
Do you offer jewelry-making workshops or sell tools?
I do! I love sharing what I've learned, so I offer hands-on jewelry-making workshops for anyone who wants to try their hand at creating their own pieces. I also carry tools and supplies for fellow enthusiasts. Check my website or send me a message for details on upcoming workshop dates and what's currently available in my tool shop.
